Power Her Up is a monthly session that aims to inspire, build a community, and be a safe space for women to learn and develop their entrepreneurial skills. We have guest speakers each month who are in the enterprise sphere, who can share their experiences as a founder or intrapreneur. Our goal each session is to be a place where friendships can be forged, and the discovery of gifts you might not realize you possess. Excited to meet you, and power you up!

Our speakers this session include Fiona Mcneill, who works at the University of Edinburgh and has a particular interest in access to education and how certain groups - especially women and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds - can be excluded and marginalised in STEM and CS.

Fiona is always interested in taking on engaged students within STEM and CS, and can sometimes find funding. She loves collaborative research and working with a wide variety of people. She would be happy for women to get in touch with her after the session.

We also have Alex Radu who is a VP Product Adoption and Marketing Lead for Public Cloud at JP Morgan Chase in Glasgow the land of the unicorns 🦄. She is also a speaker, community manager and 2021 graduate of an MSc Computer Science at University of Bath.

She has worked as a conversational developer, software engineer and community manager among other roles. As a fervent advocate of diversity in tech, Alex supports various communities, such as codebar, AWS Community Builders, Aspiring Women Speakers, #IamRemarkable, GitHub Campus Experts, Women Techmakers Ambassador and more!

In her work she combines content, data, design, tech communities and cloud. She helps bring products and brands to life using community, content and marketing, as well as acting as a navigator between product, design, engineering and customer teams underpined by data and feedback. In her personal life, she is currently recovering from a crush on 80s music and has a 660+ day streak on Duolingo for Korean

The talk with be followed by a "Ladies Learn to Code" activity to provide a fun introduction into the word of coding, run by Edinburgh Hopper's student society. This will be a great first step, and a collaborative opportunity to learn a little bit about Python :).
