Building the movement: How to lead your startup - and yourself

Entrepreneurship is a team sport. As LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman says, “If you’re playing a solo game, you’ll always lose to a team”

But that seems daunting when we start. Most of us don’t have the money to hire a full time team! It can feel like a catch-22. How can we create and lead a movement when it’s only us as founders?

Thankfully, the game has changed - it’s now easier than ever to be a true leader, at any stage of your startup journey.

  • In this fast-paced session you will learn:
  • How to mange your startup’s first and most important employee - you
  • The art of delegation, and why it’s essential.
  • How to find team members without a big budget
  • Building in public, audience first, 1,000 true fans and other ways to lead
  • Rallying followers to your cause
  • How to find and nurture your first superfans
  • Building a killer network
  • Calling in favours and spreading the work around
  • Leadership, values, and culture mistakes most first time founders make

You’ll leave with a clear direction, purpose, and a list of people eager and willing to help you grow!

For all staff, students and recent graduates from the University of Edinburgh.
